Thomson Legal is working with a leading UK law firm that is continuing to grow its dispute resolution offering in Scotland.

The firm is looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Litigation/ Dispute Resolution Lawyer to join its expanding Edinburgh team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious litigator who wants to take on high-quality work, enjoy real autonomy and play an important role in the continued development of a growing Scottish practice.

The team acts for a broad client base ranging from major national and international businesses to entrepreneurial and owner-managed companies, advising on complex and high-value disputes across a variety of sectors.

Role Profile:

You will advise on a broad range of commercial disputes, including:

• Contractual and commercial claims
• Shareholder and corporate disputes
• Professional negligence
• Contentious debt recovery
• Regulatory matters
• Complex Sheriff Court and Court of Session litigation

You will have the opportunity to lead matters independently while working closely with experienced Partners and colleagues across the wider UK disputes practice.

The role will include:

• Managing complex and high-value litigation
• Appearing regularly in Sheriff Courts across Scotland
• Preparing pleadings and managing court procedure
• Advising clients on dispute strategy and resolution
• Managing cases from initial instruction through to conclusion
• Supporting and mentoring trainees and junior lawyers
• Working closely with colleagues across the firm’s wider UK platform
• Candidate Requirements:

  The successful candidate is likely to have:

• 5+ years’ PQE in commercial litigation or a broader disputes practice
• Strong experience of Sheriff Court litigation
• The confidence to manage matters independently
• Excellent technical, communication and negotiation skills
• Strong client management skills
• Court of Session experience would be advantageous
