A well-established and highly regarded law firm is looking to appoint an experienced Head of Residential Conveyancing to lead its thriving Residential Property team.

The role 

Reporting directly to the firm’s senior leadership team, the Head of Residential Conveyancing will oversee the day-to-day running of the department while managing a varied caseload of complex residential property matters.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the team, maintaining high professional standards and ensuring the department continues to grow through excellent client service and strong business relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support a team of Conveyancing Solicitors, Legal Executives, Paralegals and support staff
• Provide coaching, mentoring and performance management to encourage professional development
• Manage a portfolio of complex residential conveyancing transactions, including high-value sales and purchases, leasehold matters, remortgages, transfers of equity, shared ownership and lease extensions
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality standards, including lender panel requirements and the Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS)
• Monitor departmental performance, productivity and profitability, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
• Build and strengthen relationships with estate agents, mortgage advisers, developers and other professional referrers to support business growth
• Contribute to the strategic development of the residential property department and help drive future success
• Maintain exceptional levels of client care and ensure matters are progressed efficiently from instruction through to completion

About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Residential Property Solicitor who enjoys leading people, developing teams and delivering outstanding client service.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive (FCILEx), or Licensed Conveyancer
• At least seven years’ post-qualification experience in residential conveyancing
• Proven experience managing or supervising a residential property team
• Strong technical knowledge across all aspects of residential conveyancing
• Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
• Commercially aware, with the ability to contribute to departmental growth and financial performance
• A proactive and collaborative approach with a genuine commitment to client satisfaction
