Financial Services & Corporate Commercial Lawyer NEW

The client:

Our client is a leading government authority responsible for a major financial centre in Doha, Qatar. It is growing its in-house legal team and wants a capable financial services and corporate commercial Lawyer to join it.

The role:

You will report to the Chief Legal Officer and give practical, business-focused advice across the organisation and its affiliated entities. The work is varied and includes:

• Drafting and amending the financial centre’s regulations, rules, policies and procedures
• Advising on financial services regulation, including AML/CFT, beneficial ownership, sanctions and anti-bribery
• Advising on setting up and regulating corporate structures, including LLCs, SPVs, branches, trusts and foundations
• Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts
• Supporting regulatory investigations and disputes, including instructing external counsel
• Working with government bodies on policy and strategic matters
• Contributing to board papers, legal training and published research.

About you:

• Qualified as a Lawyer in England & Wales, Canada, Australia, Ireland or New Zealand.
• 2-5 years’ post-qualification experience gained at an international law firm and/or in-house, advising on financial services and regulation
• Experience drafting regulations or policy is a real advantage, as is experience at a financial centre, regulator or government body
• Knowledge of financial centres or special economic zones is a strong advantage
• Excellent English drafting skills and confident stakeholder management
• Some common law litigation experience is helpful.
