Sellick Partnership is working with a leading UK infrastructure and utilities business to recruit an experienced Construction Solicitor to join its established in-house legal team.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in an extensive infrastructure investment programme, advising on high-value construction contracts and helping shape the legal and commercial framework for major infrastructure projects.

With significant investment in essential infrastructure, this is a great opportunity for a construction solicitor looking to take on a strategic in-house position, lead complex contractual negotiations and influence significant procurement decisions.

Construction Solicitor Role

You’ll work closely with the Heads of Legal and wider business, providing specialist legal support across procurement, contract development and implementation.

A key focus will be drafting and negotiating complex NEC4 construction contracts, supporting major tender processes and helping develop contractual frameworks for future infrastructure projects.

Construction Solicitor Key Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate high-value construction contracts, with a particular focus on NEC4 agreements.
• Provide legal support throughout complex procurement and tender processes.
• Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers and other external parties.
• Support the development of contractual frameworks for future infrastructure projects.
• Advise on construction, procurement and supplier-related matters.
• Identify and manage contractual risks, providing clear and practical advice to stakeholders.
• Support contract development, mobilisation and implementation.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to deliver effective legal solutions.

About You

• A qualified solicitor with experience drafting and negotiating complex construction contracts.
• Strong experience with NEC4 contracts, including construction supplier agreements.
• Ideally around 10 years’ PQE, although candidates with less experience and the right expertise will be considered.
• Experience advising on major construction, engineering or infrastructure projects.
• Confident managing contractual negotiations and advising senior stakeholders.
