I am working with a leading international law firm on an opportunity for a Real Estate Associate to join its highly regarded Transactional Property team in Manchester.

This is a slightly different proposition to your typical private practice role, offering the chance to work as a dedicated legal resource for a major UK client within a structured client delivery model – in short, more of an in-house role within a private practice team, working directly with one major client. 

The Opportunity

Rather than managing a broad spread of unrelated clients, you will work closely with one major client, developing a genuine understanding of their business, property portfolio and wider commercial objectives.

The role will involve a mix of asset management, lettings and transactional property work, giving you the opportunity to build strong client relationships and take ownership of your own caseload.

There is also a real emphasis on work-life balance, with greater certainty around working hours and the flexibility to work primarily from home. Office attendance in Manchester is required at least twice a month, alongside occasional client visits.

The Role

You will be responsible for a varied commercial property caseload, including:

• Drafting and negotiating leases and ancillary property documents.
• Managing landlord and tenant matters, lettings and ongoing asset management work.
• Handling tenant due diligence enquiries and lease management applications.
• Supporting acquisitions and disposals, including due diligence and completion processes.
• Managing your own matters, billing, WIP and financials.
• Supervising and supporting junior lawyers and paralegals.
• Building relationships with the client and external advisers.
• Working with the wider team to improve processes and deliver a consistent service.

You will be joining a large, highly regarded Transactional Real Estate team in Manchester.

The team is highly ranked and has an excellent reputation for its commercial and business-focused approach to property work. There is also a real appetite for innovation, with significant investment in legal technology and new ways of delivering legal services.

About You

• 3+ PQE in commercial real estate.
• Strong experience across transactional property work, particularly landlord and tenant matters.
• Experience working with institutional landlords, major retailers or consumer-facing businesses would be advantageous.
• Comfortable managing a busy caseload and working within a structured team environment.
• Commercially minded, proactive and confident dealing directly with clients.
